Waldbrand nahe der Copacabana
Die Feuerwehr von Rio de Janeiro hat am Freitag (Ortszeit) gegen einen Waldbrand nahe der Copacabana gekämpft. Die Flammen auf einem der Hügel hinter dem berühmten Strand waren bis in andere Viertel der brasilianischen Metropole zu sehen. Zunächst seien keine Wohngebiete betroffen und nur Vegetation verbrannt, sagte ein Feuerwehrsprecher der Nachrichtenagentur AFP. Es gebe auch keine Verletzten.
Der Brand brach den Angaben zufolge am Freitagabend auf dem Morro dos Cabritos aus, einem aus Stein und Vegetation bestehenden Hügel an der Copacabana. Laut dem Bericht eines AFP-Fotografen gab es mehrere Brandherde, die zunächst nicht eingedämmt werden konnten.
