Fahrer von Begleitmotorrad stirbt nach Unfall bei Hamburger Triathlon
Bei einem Triathlon in Hamburg ist ein Fahrer eines Kamerabegleitmotorrads nach einem Zusammenstoß mit einem teilnehmenden Radrennfahrer gestorben. Wie die Polizei in der Hansestadt mitteilte, wurde der Sportler bei der Kollision am Sonntag schwer verletzt und kam in ein Krankenhaus. Der Kameramann auf dem Motorrad erlitt einen Schock und wurde daher ebenfalls im Krankenhaus versorgt.
Der Unfall ereignete sich demnach auf einer Landstraße entlang der Elbe im Stadtteil Ochsenwerder, über die das zum dem Triathlon führende Radrennen geleitet wurde. Nach ersten Erkenntnissen der Polizei stieß das von einem 70-jährigen Fahrer gesteuerte Begleitmotorrad aus noch ungeklärter Ursache frontal mit dem 26-jährigen Sportler zusammen. An dieser Stelle der Strecke begegneten sich Motorrad und Wettkampfteilnehmer auf voneinander getrennten Fahrspuren.
Zeugen des Unfalls mussten von einem Krisentinterventionsteam betreut werden. Bei dem Triathlon in der Hansestadt handelte es sich um eine professionell organisierte Veranstaltung der internationalen "Ironman-"Reihe. Das Rennen in wird seit 2017 jährlich ausgetragen, in diesem Jahr nahmen nach Angaben der Stadt mehr als 2500 Profisportler und Amateure an der Veranstaltung teil.
