Immunitätsentzug für AfD-Chef Meuthen rückt näher
Die Aufhebung der Abgeordnetenimmunität des AfD-Politikers Jörg Meuthen ist näher gerückt. Am Donnerstag habe der Rechtsausschuss des EU-Parlaments für den Immunitätsentzug des Europaabgeordneten gestimmt, sagte ein Mitarbeiter des Parlaments und bestätigte damit einen Bericht des Nachrichtenportals t-online. Damit wird die Einleitung eines Ermittlungsverfahrens durch die Staatsanwaltschaft Berlins in einer Affäre um illegale Parteispenden gegen den AfD-Bundesvorsitzenden wahrscheinlicher.
Nun muss noch das Parlamentsplenum darüber abstimmen, das mit einfacher Mehrheit über den Entzug der Abgeordnetenimmunität entscheidet. In der Regel folgt das Plenum der Ausschussempfehlung. Die Abstimmung ist für die Plenarwoche im Februar vorgesehen, hieß es aus dem EU-Parlament. Sie findet vom 14. bis zum 17. Februar statt.
Im Juli vergangenen Jahres hatte der damalige EU-Parlamentspräsident David Sassoli den Eingang eines Antrags der deutschen Behörden bestätigt, um die Einleitung eines Ermittlungsverfahrens durch die Staatsanwaltschaft Berlin gegen Meuthen zu ermöglichen.
"Mir ist die Aufhebung der Immunität ganz recht, dann kann das schneller aufgeklärt werden", sagte Meuthen der Nachrichtenagentur AFP. Er wolle, dass die Ermittlungen schnell vorangingen. "Die Anschuldigungen sind in der Sache falsch und gegenstandslos", fügte er hinzu.
Meuthen droht in der Affäre um illegale Parteispenden aus der Schweiz einem Bericht des "Spiegel" zufolge ein strafrechtliches Ermittlungsverfahren. Die Schweizer PR-Firma Goal soll Meuthen im baden-württembergischen Landtagswahlkampf 2016 mit einer rund 90.000 Euro teuren Werbekampagne unterstützt haben. Die Staatsanwaltschaft Berlin sieht laut "Spiegel" einen Anfangsverdacht auf eine Straftat wegen der Annahme illegaler Parteispenden.
