Mann fährt mit Auto in Menschengruppe und verletzt fünf Menschen schwer
Im hessischen Rüsselsheim ist ein Mann in der Nacht auf Samstag mit seinem Pkw in eine Menschengruppe gefahren und hat dabei fünf Menschen schwer verletzt. Wie die Polizei berichtete, fuhr der 49-Jährige im Stadtteil Bauschheim kurz nach Mitternacht in die Gruppe, die während der örtlichen Kirchweih-Feierlichkeiten teils auf der Fahrbahn vor einer Gaststätte stand. Die Polizei ging von einem Verkehrsunfall und nicht von einer geplanten Tat aus.
Die fünf männlichen Opfer im Alter von 17 bis 39 Jahren seien "schwer, aber nicht lebensbedrohlich verletzt worden", teilte die Polizei am Morgen mit. Sie seien zur Versorgung in Krankenhäuser gebracht worden. Eine 20-jährige Frau wurde demnach zudem leicht verletzt. Der Unfallfahrer erlitt den Angaben zufolge keine Verletzungen.
Die Polizei ging davon aus, dass bei dem Fahrer "keine Absicht" vorlag, in die Menschengruppe zu fahren. Die Untersuchung des Vorfalls dauere aber noch an, sagte ein Sprecher. Der Mann sei jedenfalls "nicht alkoholisiert" gewesen und habe auch nicht unter dem Einfluss von Drogen gestanden.
