Metallica kündigt für April erstes Studio-Album seit 2016 an
Die US-Metal-Band Metallica hat ihr erstes Studio-Album seit 2016 und eine Welttournee angekündigt. Ihr zwölftes Studio-Album trage den Titel "72 Seasons" und werde am 14. April 2023 veröffentlicht, teilte die Band am Montag auf ihrer Website mit. Knapp zwei Wochen später, am 27. April, soll die Welttournee in Amsterdam starten. In Deutschland sind Konzerte am 26. und 28. Mai 2023 in Hamburg und ein Jahr später am 24. und 26. Mai 2024 in München geplant.
Metallica haben insgesamt 22 Städte auf ihrer Tour-Liste, darunter Paris, das schwedische Göteburg, Warschau, Madrid, Montreal, Mexiko-Stadt sowie einige Orte in den USA. In jeder Stadt sind zwei Konzerte geplant. Als Vorgeschmack auf die Tournee und das neue Album veröffentlichte die Band am Montag den ersten ihrer insgesamt zwölf neuen Songs. Er trägt den lateinischen Titel "Lux Aeterna" (Ewiges Licht).
Der Titel des neuen Albums bezieht sich laut Frontmann James Hetfield auf die prägenden Kindheitsjahre. 18 Jahre ergäben 72 Jahreszeiten, auf Englisch "72 Seasons". Die Band setze sich in ihrem neuen Album damit auseinander, wie sehr Kindheitserfahrungen das spätere Leben prägten.
"Viele unserer Erfahrungen im Erwachsenenalter sind das Nachstellen oder Reaktionen auf diese Kindheitserfahrungen", erklärte der 59 Jahre alte Metallica-Frontmann. Alle müssten sich damit auseinandersetzen, ob sie "Gefangene der Kindheit" blieben oder sich von diesen "Fesseln" befreiten.
