Versicherungsstatistik widerlegt Ruf von Freitag, dem 13., als Pechtag
Die Statistik widerlegt den Aberglauben: An einem Freitag, dem 13., ereignen sich nicht mehr Unglücke als sonst. Das zeigen Langzeitdaten der Zurich-Gruppe Deutschland, wie die Versicherung am Montag in Köln mitteilte. Danach liegen die Schadenfälle, die sich an einem Freitag, dem 13. ereignen, auf einem ähnlichen Niveau wie an allen anderen Freitagen.
Es gebe keinen Anlass zur Sorge, betonten die Versicherungsexperten vor dem kommenden Freitag. Am 13. Januar 2023, ebenfalls ein Freitag, gab es demnach sogar 0,2 Prozent weniger Schadenfälle als an den anderen Freitagen. Auch die Zahl 13 bringt laut Statistik kein Unglück. Durchschnittlich werden am 13. eines Monats - ohne Freitage - im Schnitt etwa ähnlich viele Schäden wie an den anderen Tagen gemeldet.
Freilich gibt es auch an Freitagen, die auf den 13. eines Monats fallen, zuweilen große Ereignisse: Börsencrashs, Flugzeugabstürze oder Schiffshavarien wie am 13. Januar 2012, als das Kreuzfahrtschiff "Costa Concordia" vor der italienischen Insel Giglio sank. Und am Freitag, dem 13. Januar 2017, sorgte Sturmtief "Egon" in Europa für ein Schadenhoch.
In der statistischen Gesamtbetrachtung gelten diese Ereignisse jedoch als "Ausreißer". Statistisch messbar ist allerdings eine generell höhere Schadenhäufigkeit an Freitagen. In der Gesamtbetrachtung gibt es an diesem Tag bis zu zehn Prozent mehr Schäden als an den anderen Wochentagen.
Woher die Furcht vor Freitag, dem 13., kommt, ist nicht ganz klar. Der Freitag galt schon länger als Unglückstag, gerade in christlich geprägten Gesellschaften, weil Jesus an einem Freitag gekreuzigt wurde. Die Zahl 13 durchbricht der Versicherung zufolge zudem die Zwölfersysteme wie zwölf Monate, zwölf Tag- beziehungsweise Nachtstunden oder zwölf Sternzeichen und galt im Mittelalter als "Dutzend des Teufels".
Die Kombination von Freitag und der Zahl 13 ist hauptsächlich auf den deutschen Kulturraum beschränkt. In Griechenland und einigen spanischsprachigen Ländern beispielsweise gilt ein Dienstag, der 13., als Pechtag. In Italien ist es hingegen Freitag, der 17.
