US-Literaturnobelpreisträgerin Louise Glück mit 80 Jahren gestorben
Die US-Lyrikerin und Literaturnobelpreisträgerin Louise Glück ist tot. Die Schriftstellerin starb im Alter von 80 Jahren, wie eine Sprecherin der US-Universität Yale, an der Glück lehrte, am Freitag bestätigte. Die Autorin war 2020 mit dem Literaturnobelpreis geehrt worden.
Die 1943 in New York geborene Glück hatte Ende der 60er Jahre mit ihrem lyrischen Werk begonnen. Im Laufe ihrer langen Karriere wurde sie mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet, darunter 1993 mit dem Pulitzer-Preis für ihre Gedicht-Sammlung "Wild Iris" (Wilde Iris) und 2014 mit dem National Book Award für "Treue und edle Nacht". Zu den zentralen Themen ihrer Gedichte zählten Kindheit und das Familienleben, die nicht immer harmonischen und manchmal sogar fatalen Beziehungen zwischen Eltern und Geschwistern.
2020 wurde sie als 16. Frau der Geschichte mit dem Literaturnobelpreis ausgezeichnet. Das Nobel-Komitee würdigte damals, wie sich Glück bei ihrer Suche nach dem "Allgemeingültigen" von "Mythen und klassischen Motiven" inspirieren lasse. Als Beispiel nannte es den 2006 erschienenen Gedichtband "Averno" - eine Neubeschreibung des antiken Persephone-Mythos, mit der Glück Themen wie Abschied und Rückkehr, Schönheit, Natur oder die Möglichkeiten und Unmöglichkeiten der Liebe verarbeitete.
