Mit neuer Oscar-Kategorie wird ab 2026 bestes Casting geehrt
Mit einer neuen Oscar-Kategorie soll bei den Academy Awards ab 2026 das beste Casting gewürdigt werden. "Casting-Direktoren spielen eine zentrale Rolle beim Filmen, und da sich die Akademie entwickelt, fügen wir Casting zu den Disziplinen hinzu, die wir anerkennen und feiern", erklärten der Geschäftsführer der Oscar-Akademie, Bill Kramer, und ihre Präsidentin Janet Yang am Donnerstag in Los Angeles.
Es ist die erste neu eingeführte Oscar-Kategorie seit mehr als 20 Jahren. 2001 war erstmals ein Oscar für den besten animierten Film bei der wichtigsten Show in Hollywood vergeben worden.
Besetzungschefs spielen eine zentrale Rolle zu Beginn neuer Filmprojekte. Sie wirken mit an der Gestaltung des Films, bis er schließlich die große Leinwand erreicht, heuern die Topstars an und die Darsteller für kleinere Rollen.
Für die Einführung dieser Oscar-Kategorie war bereits seit Jahren geworben worden. Eine ebenfalls laufende Kampagne von Stuntmen und Stuntwomen blieb bislang ohne Erfolg. Die diesjährigen Oscars werden am 10. März in Los Angeles verliehen.
