Straßenkarneval am Rhein erreicht mit Rosenmontagszügen seinen Höhepunkt
Mit den Rosenmontagszügen erreicht der Straßenkarneval in den rheinischen Karnevalshochburgen zum Wochenauftakt seinen Höhepunkt. In Köln, Düsseldorf und Mainz werden trotz grauer Wetteraussichten an diesem Montag wieder hunderttausende Menschen in den Innenstädten erwartet. Der größte Umzug findet traditionell in Köln statt, das diesjährige Motto lautet dort: "Wat e Theater – wat e Jeckespill".
In Düsseldorf feiern die Karnevalisten unter dem Motto "Wat et nit all jöwt" und in Mainz lautet das diesjährige Fastnachtsmotto "Zur Fassenacht lädt Mainz am Rhein die ganze Welt zum Schoppe ein", was sich auf einen Schoppen Wein bezieht. Besonders im Fokus werden bei den Umzügen wieder die Motivwagen stehen, mit denen traditionell die Politik aufs Korn genommen wird.
