Schuster kritisiert politisch Verantwortliche für Eklat auf der Berlinale
Der Präsident des Zentralrats der Juden in Deutschland, Josef Schuster, hat angesichts der Antisemitismus-Vorwürfe gegen das Filmfestival Berlinale die Bundesregierung und die Berliner Senatskanzlei kritisiert. "Hetze gegen Israel und Juden auf deutschen Kulturveranstaltungen ist eine erschreckende Regelmäßigkeit geworden", sagte Schuster der "Bild" vom Montag. "Schon wieder ducken sich bei der Berlinale viele politisch Verantwortliche weg und haben nicht den Mut, gegen Applaus für Israelhass aufzustehen."
Schuster sagte weiter: "Ich erwarte von den politischen Verantwortlichen endlich klare Positionierungen und Konsequenzen für die Kulturförderung." Die Berlinale wird von der Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und vom Land Berlin gefördert.
Auf der Preisverleihung der Berlinale am Samstagabend wurden mehrere israelkritische Reden gehalten. So ging der Filmemacher Ben Russell mit einem Palästinensertuch auf die Bühne und äußerte Genozid-Vorwürfe wegen des israelischen Vorgehens im Gazastreifen. Dabei wurde vom Publikum applaudiert. Die Veranstalter des Filmfestivals distanzierten sich am Sonntag von den Äußerungen.
