Frankreichs Präsident Macron warnt vor Folgen eines russischen Siegs für Europa
Frankreichs Präsident Emmanuel Macron hat vor den Folgen eines russischen Siegs in der Ukraine für Europa gewarnt. "Wenn Russland diesen Krieg gewinnt, wird die Glaubwürdigkeit Europas auf Null sinken", sagte Macron in einem TV-Interview am Donnerstag in Paris. In diesem Krieg stehe "die Sicherheit Europas auf dem Spiel", fügte er hinzu.
Macron bekräftige seine Haltung, mit Blick auf den russischen Präsidenten Wladimir Putin keine roten Linien festzulegen. "Wir dürfen nicht schwach sein", sagte Macron. "Wir werden niemals die Initiative ergreifen", fügte er hinzu. Russland könne und dürfe nicht den Krieg gewinnen, betonte er.
Macron bekräftigte seine Bereitschaft zur Aufnahme gemeinsamer Schulden, um die Ukraine weiter zu unterstützen. "Ich schließe nicht aus, dass wir weitere Entscheidungen treffen, um dies zu finanzieren", sagte er in Anspielung auf den Vorschlag der estnischen Ministerpräsidentin Kaja Kallas. Macron verwies dabei auf das europäische Hilfspaket, um die Folgen der Corona-Pandemie zu bewältigen.
Macon hatte zuletzt mit seiner scharfen Rhetorik zum Ukraine-Krieg Kritik ausgelöst. Mit seinem Interview zur besten Sendezeit wollte er sich an die Französinnen und Franzosen wenden, um seine Haltung zu erklären.
