US-Popstar Madonna beendet Tournee mit kostenlosem Konzert an der Copacabana
Es soll ihre größte Show werden: US-Popstar Madonna gibt zum Abschluss ihrer "Celebration"-Tour im Mai ein kostenloses Konzert an der Copacabana in der brasilianischen Metropole Rio de Janeiro. Es sei ein Dankeschön an ihre Fans, die seit mehr als vier Jahrzehnten ihre Musik feierten, hieß es am Montag auf der Website von Madonna. Zuletzt war die 65-Jährige, zu deren größten Hits "Like A Virgin" und "Material Girl" zählen, 2012 in Brasilien aufgetreten.
Die Show am 4. Mai wird Madonnas einziges Konzert in Südamerika im Rahmen ihrer "Celebration"-Tour sein, die sie in mehr als ein Dutzend Länder geführt hat. Die Organisatoren erklärten, das Konzert werde eine ähnliche Logistik erfordern wie die traditionelle Feuerwerksshow zu Silvester an der Copacabana, die jedes Jahr mindestens eine Million Menschen anzieht. 2006 hatte ein Konzert der Rolling Stones an der Copacabana nach damaligen Schätzungen zwischen 1,2 und 1,5 Millionen Menschen angezogen.
Madonna ist sieben Mal mit dem Musikpreis Grammy ausgezeichnet worden und hat weltweit mehr als 300 Millionen Tonträger verkauft. Sie arbeitete auch als Regisseurin und Schauspielerin.
