Lindner warnt in Streit um Subventionen vor Handelskrieg mit den USA
Im Streit um das milliardenschwere Klimaschutz- und Sozialpaket von US-Präsident Joe Biden warnt Bundesfinanzminister Christian Lindner (FDP) vor einem Handelskrieg mit Washington. "Die USA sind unser Wertepartner, aber zugleich gibt es eine enorm protektionistische Wirtschaftspolitik", sagte Lindner der "Welt am Sonntag". Deshalb müsse die Bundesregierung in Washington deutsche Interessen vertreten und auf die negativen Konsequenzen für Deutschland hinweisen.
Die deutsche Wirtschaft sei anders als beispielsweise die französische mit dem US-Markt eng verbunden, sagte Lindner. "Deshalb kann Deutschland kein Interesse an einem Handelskrieg haben, sondern muss auf Wirtschaftsdiplomatie setzen."
Die USA und Europa streiten derzeit über Bidens im August beschlossenes milliardenschwere Klimaschutz- und Sozialpaket, das unter dem Namen Inflationsreduzierungsgesetz (IRA) bekannt ist. Es sieht 370 Milliarden Dollar (rund 357 Milliarden Euro) für Klimaschutz und Energiesicherheit vor - unter anderem Subventionen für Elektroautos, Batterien und Projekte zu erneuerbaren Energien "Made in USA".
Die Subventionen stoßen in der EU auf massive Kritik; befürchtet wird eine Benachteiligung europäischer Unternehmen. Frankreichs Präsident Emmanuel Macron hatte in dieser Woche bei einem USA-Besuch die Maßnahmen Washingtons als "super aggressiv" bezeichnet und gewarnt: "Diese Entscheidungen werden den Westen spalten."
