Japanischer Weltraumtourist will mit Gruppe von Künstlern den Mond umrunden
Der japanische Milliardär Yusaku Maezawa will sich bei seiner geplanten Mondumrundung von acht Künstlern begleiten lassen. "Sie werden sehr von dieser Erfahrung profitieren und ich hoffe, dass sie dies nutzen werden, um einen Beitrag für den Planeten und die Menschheit zu leisten", sagte Maezawa in einem auf Youtube veröffentlichten Video.
Zur Besatzung der Mission "dearMoon" zählen demnach der US-DJ und Produzent Steve Aoki, der Youtuber Tim Dodd, der tschechische Künstler Yemi AD, die irische Fotografin Rhiannon Adam, der britische Fotograf Karim Iliya, der US-Filmemacher Brendan Hall, der indische Schauspieler Dev Joshi und der südkoreanische K-Pop-Musiker TOP. Als Ersatzkandidaten stehen die US-Snowboarderin Kaitlyn Farrington und die japanische Tänzerin Miyu bereit.
Laut der "dearMoon"-Website soll die Mondumrundung sechs Tage dauern, eine Landung auf dem Erdtrabanten ist nicht geplant. Bei der Mission soll die Starship-Rakete von SpaceX zum Einsatz kommen, die sich noch in der Entwicklung befindet. Ein Testflug der Rakete in der Erdumlaufbahn, den SpaceX-Gründer Elon Musk wiederholt bis Ende 2022 in Aussicht gestellt hat, steht noch aus.
Maezawa ist als Gründer des größten japanischen Online-Modehändlers zu Reichtum gelangt und hat bereits einen Flug ins All absolviert. Für seinen Besuch auf der Internationalen Raumstation im vergangenen Jahr zahlte er Berichten zufolge knapp 79 Millionen Euro.
