UN-Organisation: Fluggastverkehr erreicht in diesem Jahr wieder Vor-Corona-Niveau
Der Fluggastverkehr könnte einer UN-Organisation zufolge in diesem Jahr wieder das Niveau vor Beginn der Corona-Pandemie erreichen. Die Internationale Zivilluftfahrtorganisation (ICAO) teilte am Mittwoch mit, sie gehe davon aus, dass die Passagierzahlen bis zum Ende des laufenden Jahres etwa drei Prozent über dem Niveau von 2019 liegen könnten. 2024 könnte die Nachfrage demnach vier Prozent über dem Wert von 2019 liegen. Die Organisation prognostiziert eine "vollständige und nachhaltige" Erholung.
Das Niveau vor Beginn der Corona-Pandemie könnte der ICAO zufolge auf den meisten Strecken bereits bis zum Ende des ersten Quartals des laufenden Jahres erreicht werden. Die Organisation geht zudem davon aus, dass die Branche nach drei Verlustjahren im vierten Quartal 2023 wieder in die Gewinnzone zurückkehren wird.
Wegen der Reisebeschränkungen durch die Corona-Pandemie war die Zahl der Flugpassagiere im Jahr 2020 im Vergleich zum Vor-Corona-Jahr 2019 um 60 Prozent zurückgegangen. 2021 lag die Zahl noch 49 Prozent unter dem Wert von 2019. Im vergangenen Jahr erreichten die Passagierzahlen 74 Prozent des Umfangs von 2019.
