Erste selbstfahrende Fähre nimmt Betrieb in Stockholm auf
In der schwedischen Hauptstadt Stockholm hat erstmals eine selbstfahrende Fähre den Betrieb aufgenommen. Die MF Estelle trat am Donnerstag ihre Jungfernfahrt an, ab Montag verkehrt sie regelmäßig zwischen den zahlreichen Inseln der Stadt. Zunächst ist dabei stets ein Kapitän an Bord, der jedoch im Normalfall lediglich den Betrieb überwacht.
Ziel sei es, das Schiff in absehbarer Zeit "gänzlich autonom" fahren zu lassen, sagte Stein Andre Herigstad-Olsen, Chef der norwegischen Betreiberfirma Torghattan. Das Steuersystem "sieht wie ein Kapitän".
Die MF Estelle ist mit Radar-, Kamera- und Ultraschallsystemen sowie optischen Abstands- und Geschwindigkeitsmessgeräten per Laser ausgestattet. Der Bordcomputer sammelt die Daten und verarbeitet sie, um das Schiff zu steuern. "Wenn ein Boot die Richtung ändert oder ein Kanu auftaucht, sehen wir das sofort in weniger als einer Sekunde. Wir aktualisieren den Kurs entsprechend", sagte Torghattan-Geschäftsführer Erik Nilsson.
Diese erste selbstfahrende Fähre hat umgerechnet knapp 1,5 Millionen Euro gekostet und kann bis zu 30 Passagiere befördern. Eine einzelnde Fahrt kosten rund 2,80 Euro. Das Projekt ist halbstaatlich und EU-gefördert. Torghattan will die Fährlinien in Stockholm weiter ausbauen und die Technologie auch in anderen Städten zum Einsatz bringen.
