Streik in Hollywood: US-Drehbuchautoren wollen mit Studios Gespräche aufnehmen
In dem seit fast 100 Tagen andauernden Streik der US-Drehbuchautoren zeigt sich ein Hoffnungsschimmer. Die Filmstudios hätten um ein Treffen gebeten, um über Verhandlungen zu sprechen, teilte die US-Autorengewerkschaft (WGA) am Mittwoch mit. Das Treffen solle bereits am Freitag stattfinden. Die Drehbuchautoren verlangen angesichts des großen Wachstums der Streaming-Angebote eine bessere Bezahlung und eine größere Gewinnbeteiligung.
Bislang erhalten die Drehbuchautorinnen und -autoren von den Plattformen ein fixes jährliches Gehalt - auch wenn sich Serien wie "Bridgerton" oder "Stranger Things" zu weltweiten Erfolgen entwickeln und von hunderten Millionen Zuschauern gesehen werden. Zudem bleiben die Serien oft jahrelang auf den Plattformen. Die Autoren fordern daher eine Überarbeitung der geltenden Regeln für ihre Vergütung.
Seit Mitte Juli streiken auch die Schauspieler der US-Film- und Fernsehbranche. Sie verlangen höhere Gagen sowie Zusicherungen zum künftigen Umgang mit Künstlicher Intelligenz. Der erste Doppelstreik in Hollywood seit sechs Jahrzehnten hatte die Filmproduktion massiv gestört. Nach Medienberichten könnte auch die für den 18. September vorgesehene Verleihung der Emmy-Awards verschoben werden.
Der Arbeitskampf kostet die Unterhaltungsindustrie und die Wirtschaft in Kalifornien mehrere Millionen Dollar pro Tag. Die Screen Actors Guild vertritt rund 160.000 Schauspielerinnen und Schauspieler, unter ihnen auch Stars wie Sean Penn.
