Will Smith entschuldigt sich nach Ohrfeige bei Chris Rock - auf Instagram
Der US-Schauspieler Will Smith hat sich nach seiner Ohrfeige bei der Oscars-Preisverleihung auf der Internetplattform Instagram bei Komiker Chris Rock entschuldigt. "Ich möchte mich öffentlich bei dir entschuldigen, Chris", schrieb er am Montag. "Ich habe mich daneben benommen und lag falsch. Es ist mir peinlich und meine Handlungen waren nicht bezeichnend für den Mann, der ich sein möchte."
Smith hatte Rock am Sonntag auf der Bühne geschlagen, nachdem der Komiker zuvor die Frau des Schauspielers mit einem Witz beleidigt hatte. Kurz nach dem Vorfall war Smith mit dem Oscar für den besten Hauptdarsteller in dem Film "King Richard" ausgezeichnet worden. In der Dankesrede entschuldigte er sich unter Tränen bei den anderen Nominierten und den Organisatoren der Veranstaltung - nicht jedoch bei Rock persönlich. Die Veranstalter - die Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences - hatte eine offizielle Untersuchung des Vorfalls angekündigt.
"Gewalt in all ihren Formen ist giftig und zerstörerisch", erklärte Smith nun. "Mein Verhalten bei der gestrigen Oscar-Verleihung war inakzeptabel und unentschuldbar." Er erklärte weiter: "Witze auf meine Kosten gehören zum Job, aber ein Witz über Jadas Gesundheitszustand war zu viel für mich und ich habe emotional reagiert." Rock hatte sich über Jada Pinkett Smiths Haarausfall lustig gemacht.
