Niederlande wollen mit Milliardenpaket Chip-Hersteller ASML im Land halten
Um eine Abwanderung von Weltkonzernen wie dem Chip-Hersteller ASML ins Ausland zu verhindern, hat die niederländische Regierung am Donnerstag ein Investitionspaket im Wert von 2,5 Milliarden Euro vorgestellt. Das Geld der "Operation Beethoven" soll vor allem bei ASML in die Entwicklung neuer Mitarbeiter fließen, aber auch die Attraktivität der Region steigern und die Stromversorgung sichern. Bereitgestellt werden die Mittel von der Regierung und der Region um Eindhoven, in der ASML seinen Sitz hat.
Der Chip-Hersteller sei "eines der wichtigsten Unternehmen in den Niederlanden, ein Global Player", sagte Wirtschaftsministerin Micky Adriaansens laut der Nachrichtenagentur ANP. Zuvor hatte ASML die Befürchtung geäußert, dass es infolge eines Wahlsiegs des Rechtspopulisten Geert Wilders zu einer Verringerung der Zuwanderung von qualifizierten Arbeitskräften in die Niederlande kommen werde. "Wenn wir die Leute nicht hier bekommen können, bekommen wir sie woanders. Das ist ganz einfach", sagte der ASML-Vorstandsvorsitzende Peter Wennink im Januar bei der Veröffentlichung des jährlichen Unternehmensberichts.
ASML beschäftigt 42.000 Mitarbeiter und gilt als einer der wichtigsten Chip-Hersteller der Welt. Mehr als die Hälfte der Mitarbeiter sind in einem riesigen Firmenkomplex in Veldhoven im Osten der Niederlande beschäftigt, ein Großteil von ihnen stammt aus dem Ausland. Die Region "Brainport", in der neben ASML auch Technologieunternehmen wie Philips ansässig sind, gilt als das Silicon Valley der Niederlande.
