Avocado-Importe haben sich innerhalb von zehn Jahren verfünffacht
Avocados werden als Lebensmittel in Deutschland immer beliebter: Wie das Statistische Bundesamt in Wiesbaden am Dienstag mitteilte, hat sich die Einfuhrmenge der Früchte zwischen 2013 und 2023 mehr als verfünffacht (plus 402 Prozent). Vergangenes Jahr wurden demnach 157.800 Tonnen Avocados im Wert von 484 Millionen Euro importiert.
Die Importkurve zeigt mit Ausnahme der Corona-Jahre 2020 und 2021 stetig nach oben. In den beiden Jahren stagnierten die Einfuhren. 2013 wurden laut Statistikamt gut 31.400 Tonnen Avocados nach Deutschland verschifft, ihr Wert damals betrug 68,3 Millionen Euro.
Bis in den Supermarkt legt die Avocado, die zum Wachsen ein warmes Klima braucht, oft viele tausend Kilometer zurück, erklärten die Statistiker. Wichtigstes Herkunftsland für den deutschen Markt war 2023 mit 49.200 Tonnen Peru, gefolgt von Kolumbien (15.800 Tonnen) und Chile (14.500 Tonnen). Die Hälfte der im vergangenen Jahr nach Deutschland importierten Avocados stammte aus diesen Staaten.
