EU-Parlament stimmt über einheitliche Handy-Ladestecker ab
Das Europäische Parlament stimmt am Dienstag in Straßburg über die Einführung eines einheitlichen Handy-Ladesteckers in der EU ab (12.00 Uhr). Es wird erwartet, dass die Mehrheit der Abgeordneten sich dafür ausspricht, den Stecker im Format USB-C als Standard einzuführen. Darauf hatten sich Unterhändler des EU-Parlaments und der Mitgliedstaaten bereits im Juni geeinigt.
Stecker im Format USB-C könnten dann ab Herbst 2024 für alle Handys, Tablets und Digitalkameras eingeführt werden. Für Laptops würde USB-C voraussichtlich erst 2026 zum Standard. Handy-Ladekabel waren nach Angaben der EU-Kommission im Jahr 2018 für rund 11.000 Tonnen Elektroschrott verantwortlich.
