Bedarf an Kinderbetreuung übersteigt weiterhin Angebot an verfügbaren Plätzen
Die Zahl der in Kitas betreuten Kinder hat einen neuen Höchstsand erreicht - der Bedarf übersteigt aber weiterhin das Angebot. Das ist das Ergebnis einer am Donnerstag veröffentlichen Studie des Bundesfamilienministeriums. Gut 2,65 Millionen Kinder im Alter von drei Jahren bis zum Schuleintritt besuchten demnach im vergangenen Jahr ein Angebot der Kindertagesbetreuung. Dies waren rund 39.000 Kinder mehr als im Vorjahr. Die Betreuungsquote in dieser Altersgruppe lag den Angaben zufolge bei 92 Prozent. Der Stichtag der Erhebung war der 1. März 2022.
Bei den unter Dreijährigen erhöhte sich die Betreuungsquote laut der Studie "Kindertagesbetreuung Kompakt" von 34,4 auf 35,5 Prozent. Seit 2006 sei der Anteil der betreuten Kinder in dieser Altersgruppe um mehr als 20 Prozentpunkte angestiegen. Auch die Zahl der in Horten und schulischen Ganztagsangeboten betreuten Grundschulkinder erhöhte sich. Er stieg von 1,62 auf 1,67 Millionen Schüler.
Insgesamt besteht in allen Altersgruppen aber weiterhin eine Versorgungslücke. Bei Eltern von Kindern unter drei Jahren liege die Differenz zwischen Betreuungsquote und Betreuungsbedarf bei 13,6 Prozentpunkten, teilte das Ministerium unter Berufung auf eine Befragung von rund 35.000 Eltern mit. Bei Kindern im Grundschulalter lag die Lücke bei 18 Prozentpunkten. Bei Kindern von drei Jahren bis zum Schuleintritt war sie mit 4,5 Prozentpunkten am kleinsten.
