Stiko-Chef für Schulimpfungen zur Steigerung der HPV-Impfquote unter Kindern
Der Vorsitzende der Ständigen Impfkommission (Stiko) hat sich für eine stärkere Rolle der Schulen ausgesprochen, um die Zahl der Impfungen gegen krebserregende HPV-Infektionen zu steigern. Die Verträglichkeit der Impfstoffe sei "hervorragend" und die Impfung selbst "hoch effektiv", daher spreche generell nichts dagegen, sagte der Virologe Klaus Überla den Funke-Zeitungen vom Wochenende. "Um die Impfrate zu steigern, sollten wir deswegen neue Wege gehen."
In anderen Ländern werde deutlich, dass "die besten Impfraten im Rahmen von Schulimpfungen erzielt" werden könnten, sagte Überla. Daher müssten auch hierzulande Impfungen in der Schule angeboten werden. "Das wäre eine gute Möglichkeit, die Rate zu steigern und damit langfristig Leben zu retten." Der Virologe hielte es außerdem für sinnvoll, in den Schulen mehr über die Entstehung von Tumoren und über die Wirksamkeit von Impfungen zu informieren.
Nach Angaben des Robert-Koch-Instituts gehört die HPV-Infektion zu den häufigsten sexuell übertragbaren Infektionen. Humane Papillomviren (HPV) können Krebs verursachen, etwa Gebärmutterhalskrebs. Die Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) und die EU verfolgen das Ziel, dass bis 2030 eine Impfquote von mindestens 90 Prozent bei den 15-jährigen Mädchen und eine deutliche Steigerung bei den 15-jährigen Jungen zu erreichen. Aktuell sind in Deutschland nur 54 Prozent der 15-jährigen Mädchen und 27 Prozent der gleichaltrigen Jungen vollständig gegen HPV geimpft.
