Zahl der Schulanfänger auf höchsten Stand seit 17 Jahren gestiegen
So viele Kinder wie seit 17 Jahren nicht mehr sind in diesem Jahr in Deutschland eingeschult worden. 810.700 Erstklässlerinnen und Erstklässler begannen im laufenden Schuljahr 2022/2023 mit der Schule, wie das Statistische Bundesamt am Freitag in Wiesbaden mitteilte. Das waren 40.000 oder 5,2 Prozent mehr als im Vorjahr. Mehr Kinder wurden zuletzt im Schuljahr 2005/2006 eingeschult: 822.300 waren es damals.
Der starke Anstieg der Einschulungen lässt sich laut Statistikamt auf demografische Entwicklungen wie höhere Geburtenzahlen und verstärkte Zuwanderung zurückführen. Welchen Anteil ukrainische geflüchtete Kinder und Jugendliche an den Zugewanderten ausmachen, lasse sich jedoch nicht beziffern.
Zum Jahresende 2021 gab es demnach bundesweit rund 2,9 Prozent mehr Kinder im einschulungsrelevanten Alter von fünf bis sechs Jahren als im Jahr zuvor. Die Zahl ausländischer Kinder in dieser Altersgruppe lag dabei um 8,1 Prozent höher als im Vorjahr, jener mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit um 2,1 Prozent.
Mit 93,6 Prozent startete der überwiegende Teil der Kinder seine Schullaufbahn an einer Grundschule. 3,2 Prozent wurden an Förderschulen eingeschult, 2,4 Prozent an Integrierten Gesamtschulen sowie 0,9 Prozent an Freien Waldorfschulen.
Die meisten Kinder wurden laut Statistik in Nordrhein-Westfalen eingeschult: 180.300 begannen hier mit der Schule. Dahinter folgen Bayern und Baden-Württemberg mit 129.200 beziehungsweise 103.500 Schulanfängerinnen und -anfänger.
