Griechenland hebt Corona-Impfpflicht für Gesundheitspersonal auf
In Griechenland dürfen tausende Krankenschwestern, Pfleger und Ärzte, die wegen fehlender Corona-Impfung nicht mehr im Gesundheitsbereich arbeiten durften, in ihre Jobs zurückkehren. Gesundheitsminister Thanos Plevris sagte am Dienstag dem Sender Mega TV, ein entsprechendes Gerichtsurteil werde umgesetzt, auch wenn es sich aus seiner Sicht um "eine gefährliche Entscheidung für die öffentlich Gesundheit" handele.
Das Arbeitsverbot für Ungeimpfte im Gesundheitsbereich werde am 1. Januar, vielleicht aber auch schon früher außer Kraft gesetzt, führte der Minister aus. Damit folgt die Regierung einer Entscheidung von Griechenlands oberstem Verwaltungsgericht, dem Staatsrat, der die Regelung vergangene Woche für ungültig erklärt hatte.
Bei der Einführung der Corona-Impfpflicht für das Gesundheitspersonal vor einem Jahr waren davon rund 6500 Arbeitnehmer betroffen gewesen. Nach Informationen der Zeitung "Kathimerini" waren es im Oktober immerhin noch mehr als 2000 Kräfte, die wegen der Impfpflicht nicht mehr im Gesundheitsbereich arbeiten konnten, darunter etwa 170 Ärztinnen und Ärzte.
Seit Beginn der Corona-Pandemie wurden in Griechenland gut 5,3 Millionen Corona-Infektionen registriert. Nach Angaben des Gesundheitsministeriums starben mehr als 34.000 Infizierte.
Außer in Griechenland war auch in einigen anderen europäischen Ländern eine Corona-Impfpflicht für Gesundheitspersonal eingeführt worden. In Deutschland müssen Mitarbeiter in Gesundheit und Pflege seit dem 15. März einen Corona-Impf- oder Genesenennachweis vorlegen. Die Corona-Impfpflicht für Personal in Gesundheits- und Pflegeeinrichtungen soll aber voraussichtlich zum Jahresende auslaufen.
