Vier Jahre Haft für frühere Hebamme nach Tod von ungeborenem Kind bei Hausgeburt
Nach dem Tod eines Ungeborenen bei einer komplizierten Hausgeburt ist eine ehemalige Hebamme am Dienstag vom Landgericht im niedersächsischen Verden zu einer Haftstrafe von vier Jahren verurteilt worden. Die Kammer sah es nach Angaben einer Gerichtssprecherin als erwiesen an, dass die Frau nicht nach medizinischen Standards handelte. Sie verurteilte diese deshalb wegen Totschlags durch Unterlassen sowie Körperverletzung durch Unterlassen.
Sechs Monate der Haftstrafe gelten demnach wegen der überlangen Dauer des Verfahrens bereits als vollstreckt. Der Fall hatte sich bereits 2015 in der Gemeinde Siedenburg zugetragen. Laut Anklage hatte die 61-jährige Beschuldigte damals eine Hausgeburt betreut, die sich über einen Zeitraum von rund 35 Stunden zog. Am Ende kam das Kind im Krankenhaus tot zur Welt.
Die Staatsanwaltschaft hatte der Frau vorgeworfen, auf den schlechter werdenden Gesundheitszustand des noch ungeborenen Kindes und der Mutter nicht reagiert und keine ärztliche Hilfe organisiert zu haben. Laut Urteil starb das Kind an Sauerstoffmangel durch das Einatmen von Fruchtwasser.
Die Anklage hatte in ihrem Plädoyer eine Haftstrafe von fünf Jahren und acht Monaten gefordert. Die Verteidigte hatte auf Freispruch plädiert.
