Schwache Impfstoff-Verkäufe belasten Ergebnis von Johnson & Johnson
Sinkende Verkäufe seines Corona-Impfstoffs haben dem US-Pharmakonzern Johnson & Johnson die Bilanz verhagelt: Im letzten Quartal des vergangenen Jahres ging der Umsatz um 4,4 Prozent auf 23,7 Milliarden Dollar (rund 21,8 Milliarden Euro) zurück, wie das Unternehmen am Dienstag mitteilte, das war noch weniger als Analysten erwartet hatten. Der Gewinn schrumpfte sogar um 25,7 Prozent auf 3,5 Milliarden Dollar.
Im eigenen Land verkaufte J&J zuletzt praktisch keinen Corona-Impfstoff mehr, da dieser schon im vergangenen Jahr auf bestimmte Personenkreise beschränkt worden war. Im Rest der Welt brachte das Mittel 689 Millionen Dollar ein. Das war weniger als die Hälfte verglichen mit dem Vorjahreszeitraum. Der Vektorimpfstoff ist weniger beliebt und verbreitet als die mRNA-Impfstoffe der J&J-Konkurrenten Biontech/Pfizer und Moderna.
Das Unternehmen machte auch die ungünstigen Wechselkurse für das eher schwache Ergebnis verantwortlich. Für das laufende Jahr zeigte sich Johnson & Johnson trotzdem optimistisch und rechnet mit einer Umsatzsteigerung um 4,5 bis 5,5 Prozent im Jahresvergleich und mit einem Gewinnanstieg pro Aktie um drei bis fünf Prozent. Die Aktie legte daher an der Wall Street zunächst um 0,8 Prozent zu.
