Schauspieler Sam Neill offenbart Blutkrebs-Diagnose
Der aus dem Kinohit "Jurassic Park" bekannte neuseeländische Schauspieler Sam Neill hat seine Leukämie-Erkrankung öffentlich gemacht. In seiner kommende Woche erscheinenden Autobiographie "Did I Ever Tell You This" (Hab ich Dir das je erzählt) schreibt Neill, dass er seit März vergangenen Jahres wegen eines Non-Hodgkin-Lymphoms behandelt und möglicherweise daran sterben werde.
In einem Interview mit dem "Guardian" sagte der 75-Jährige, dass er sich trotz Behandlungserfolgen bis zum Ende seines Lebens Chemotherapie unterziehen werde. "Ich kann nicht so tun, als ob das letzte Jahr nicht seine dunklen Momente hatte", sagte Neill. Er sei "dankbar für jeden Tag und unermesslich dankbar für alle meine Freunde".
Neills langjährige Schauspielkarriere begann in den 1970er Jahren und brachte ihm dutzende Rollen in Film und Fernsehen ein, darunter die Serie "Peaky Blinders" sowie die Filme "Jagd auf Roter Oktober" und "Das Piano". 2022 spielte er in "Jurassic World: Ein neues Zeitalter" erneut die Rolle des Paläontologen Dr. Alan Grant.
