Bericht: Ermittlungen gegen Meta wegen illegalen Medikamentenhandels
Die US-Behörden ermitteln laut einem Zeitungsbericht gegen den Facebook-Mutterkonzern Meta wegen möglicher Verstrickung in den illegalen Handel mit Medikamenten. Wie das "Wall Street Journal" am Samstag berichtete, untersuchen Ermittler im südlichen Bundesstaat Virginia, inwiefern die Meta-Onlineplattformen den illegalen Medikamentenhandel begünstigen und davon profitieren.
Der Konzern erklärte gegenüber dem "Wall Street Journal", der Verkauf nicht genehmigter Medikamente verstoße gegen die eigenen Richtlinien und es werde daran gearbeitet, entsprechende Inhalte von den Plattformen zu entfernen. Auf AFP-Anfrage äußerten sich am Samstag weder die an den Ermittlungen beteiligte US-Medikamentenaufsicht noch Meta zu dem Bericht.
Meta-Manager Nick Clegg hatte am Freitag bekannt gegeben, dass sich Meta künftig gemeinsam mit dem US-Außenministerium, der UNO und Snapchat am Kampf gegen den Handel mit synthetischen Drogen beteiligen will.
