Bericht: Tausende Verfahren wegen Betrugs bei Corona-Hilfen für Wirtschaft
Bei den Corona-Soforthilfen für Unternehmen und Selbständige hat es einem Bericht zufolge mutmaßlich tausendfach Betrug gegeben. Bis Ende 2023 leiteten die Behörden deutschlandweit 7900 Ermittlungsverfahren ein, zitierte der "Spiegel" einen Sprecher des Bundeswirtschaftsministeriums laut Vorabmeldung vom Donnerstag sagte. Die Soforthilfen waren während der Pandemie nur eines von vielen Programmen, um Unternehmen und Selbstständige in der Krise zu unterstützen.
Die Zahl der Betrugsvergehen in allen Programmen dürfte weitaus höher sein, hieß es weiter. Das Landeskriminalamt Berlin kommt dabei dem Bericht zufolge allein auf mehr als 16.000 Ermittlungsverfahren wegen mutmaßlich zu Unrecht gezahlter Hilfen. Die Behörde geht dabei von einem möglichen Schaden von 274 Millionen Euro aus.
Die Corona-Subventionen seien "die ultimative Gelegenheit zum Betrug" gewesen, sagte Rolf Blaga, Arbeitsgruppenleiter bei Transparency International in Deutschland, dem Nachrichtenmagazin. Noch nie in der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik sei es so leicht gewesen, "vom Staat alimentiert zu werden".
Insgesamt zahlte der Bund in der Pandemie 76,5 Milliarden Euro an Corona-Hilfen. 13,13 Milliarden Euro stammten aus der Soforthilfe, hinzu kamen 63,3 Milliarden Euro für alle anderen Programme wie die Überbrückungs- oder die November- und Dezemberhilfe.
