Berliner stimmen bei Volksentscheid über Klimaneutralität bis 2030 ab
In Berlin können am Sonntag gut 2,4 Millionen Wahlberechtigte darüber entscheiden, ob die Hauptstadt schon 2030 klimaneutral werden soll. Dies will ein Bündnis von Initiativen erreichen. Dazu gehören Fridays for Future, der Allgemeine Deutschen Fahrrad-Club (ADFC), weitere Umweltverbände sowie die Jusos und die Grüne Jugend. Am Vormittag blieb die Beteiligung an der Abstimmung allerdings verhalten.
Wie der Landeswahlleiter am frühen Nachmittag bekanntgab, betrug die Beteiligung an dem Volksentscheid "Berlin 2030 klimaneutral" in den 2208 Abstimmungslokalen bis 12.00 Uhr landesweit elf Prozent. Zuvor war mitgeteilt worden, dass für 18,8 Prozent der Abstimmungsberechtigten Wahlscheine ausgestellt worden seien, die zur Teilnahme an der Briefwahl oder vorab in Wahlämtern berechtigten.
Als angenommen gilt die Initiative, wenn eine Mehrheit der Abstimmenden sowie mindestens 25 Prozent der Wahlberechtigten mit Ja stimmt. Kommt beides zustande, würde eine Änderung des Berliner Klimaschutzgesetzes mit dem vorgezogenen Klimaziel sofort in Kraft treten.
Die amtierende Landesregierung strebt die Klimaneutralität hingegen erst für das Jahr 2045 an. Sie hält den Schritt bis 2030 nicht für umsetzbar. "Diesen Sonntag können wir einmalig entscheiden, echten Klimaschutz zu machen", warb Fridays for Future Berlin dagegen um Zustimmung. Unterstützt wurde die Initiative auch durch einen Aufruf Berliner Kulturschaffender.
