Feuer nahe des Brockens im Harz unter Kontrolle
Der am Wochenende unweit des Brockens im Harz ausgebrochene Waldbrand ist unter Kontrolle. Das Feuer konnte durch den mehrstündigen Einsatz von zwei Löschflugzeugen und eines Hubschraubers, die etwa 35.000 Liter Löschwasser abwarfen, am Sonntagabend eingedämmt werden, wie der Landkreis Harz am Abend berichtete. Am Montagmorgen wurde die Brandbekämpfung mit zwei Löschflugzeugen sowie am Boden fortgesetzt. Rund 80 Feuerwehrleute waren weiterhin im Einsatz.
Das Feuer war am Sonntag unterhalb des Königsbergs ausgebrochen. Rund hundert Brockenbesucher wurden mit Bussen in Sicherheit gebracht. Insgesamt 120 Kräfte von Feuerwehr, Technischem Hilfswerk, Polizei und Nationalpark waren bei der Brandbekämpfung im Einsatz.
Im vergangenen Jahr brannte es im Harz insgesamt 16 Mal. Den mit Abstand größten Waldbrand gab es Anfang September unterhalb des Brockens. Damals waren über Tage hunderte Brandbekämpfer im Einsatz.
