30 CO2-intensivste deutsche Industrieanlagen verursachen acht Prozent der Emissionen
Die 30 CO2-intensivsten Industrieanlagen in Deutschland sind für fast ein Drittel der Industrieemissionen und für acht Prozent der gesamten Emissionen Deutschlands verantwortlich. Das geht aus einer am Dienstag veröffentlichten Untersuchung des Öko-Instituts im Auftrag des WWF hervor. Die Umweltschützer forderten eine schnellere Transformation der Industrie und kritisierten die kostenlose Vergabe von CO2-Zertifikaten an bestimmte Industriezweige.
Der Untersuchung zufolge gehören die obersten 13 Plätze der "dreckigsten" Anlagen zur Eisen- und Stahlerzeugung. Ganz oben steht ein ein Hüttenwerk von ThyssenKrupp in Duisburg. Auch in der Zement- und Chemieindustrie sind die CO2-Emissionen hoch, etwa durch das Zementwerk in Rüdersdorf bei Berlin. Mehr Treibhausgase als die Industrie stößt in Deutschland nur die Energiewirtschaft aus.
"Der Industriesektor ist ein Schwergewicht beim CO2-Ausstoß und damit auch beim Klimaschutz. Ihn zu transformieren ist eine der wichtigsten Aufgaben für Politik und Wirtschaft", erklärte Viviane Raddatz, Klimachefin beim WWF Deutschland. "Leider wurde diese Aufgabe bisher nicht strukturell adressiert."
Tatsächlich sei durch die Vergabe kostenloser CO2-Zertifikate an bestimmte Industriezweige die Wirkung des Emissionshandels stark reduziert worden: "Das CO2-Preissignal wurde abgeschwächt und der Anreiz, auf klimafreundliche Verfahren und Technologien umzustellen, entfiel", erklärte Raddatz."Nun hat man sich zwar auf ein Auslaufen der kostenlosen Zuteilung bis 2034 geeinigt, doch das ist zu spät", kritisierte sie
