Weltweite Zivilluftfahrt will bis 2050 CO2-neutral werden
Bis zum Jahr 2050 soll die weltweite Zivilluftfahrt CO2-neutral gestaltet werden. Auf dieses Ziel hätten sich die Mitgliedstaaten der Internationalen Zivilluftfahrtorganisation (Icao) am Freitag geeinigt, schrieb die UN-Unterorganisation im Kurzbotschaftendienst Twitter.
Die Vertreter der 193 Staaten, die sich am Sitz der Organisation in Montréal versammelt hatten, hätten eine "historische Einigung auf ein ehrgeiziges kollektives langfristiges Ziel von null Kohlenstoffemissionen bis zum Jahr 2050" erzielt. Dies sei ein "exzellentes Ergebnis", erfuhr die Nachrichtenagentur AFP aus EU-Kreisen. Lediglich vier Staaten, darunter China, hätten Vorbehalte angemeldet.
Der Luftverkehr steht wegen seiner Rolle in der Klimakrise immer wieder in der Kritik. Der Sektor, der heute für 2,5 bis drei Prozent der weltweiten CO2-Emissionen verantwortlich ist, ist schwierig auf erneuerbare Energien umzustellen.
