Frankreich-Besuch von König Charles III. wegen Rentenproteste verschoben
Wegen der Rentenproteste ist der geplante dreitägige Frankreich-Besuch des britischen Königs Charles III. verschoben worden. Die Entscheidung sei nach einem Telefonat von Präsident Emmanuel Macron und König Charles gefallen, teilte der Elysée am Freitag mit. Grund sei die Ankündigung eines erneuten Protesttages gegen die Rentenreform am Dienstag.
Charles III. solle später in Frankreich empfangen werden, "unter Bedingungen, die unserer Freundschaft entsprechen", teilte der Elysée mit. Macron hatte Charles III. unter anderem zu einem Staatsbankett in das Schloss von Versailles einladen wollen. Dies war von Gegnern der Rentenreform angesichts der sozialen Krise als unangemessen kritisiert worden.
Geplant war außerdem eine Bahnfahrt nach Bordeaux, wo der König mit Biowinzern zusammentreffen wollte. Dort hatten Demonstranten in der Nacht zum Freitag das Portal des Rathauses in Brand gesetzt.
Die Proteste gegen die Rentenreform sind seit der Verabschiedung des Gesetzes mithilfe eines Verfassungskniffs immer radikaler geworden. Bei Ausschreitungen wurden Hunderte von Sicherheitskräften verletzt.
