Hersteller von Einwegplastik müssen künftig für Müllbeseitigung zahlen
Hersteller von Produkten aus Einwegplastik müssen sich künftig an den Kosten der Müllbeseitigung beteiligen. Der Bundesrat billigte am Freitag ein Gesetz, das den Aufbau eines Fonds für die Abfallbeseitigung in Parks und auf Straßen vorsieht. Gefüllt wird der Topf von den Herstellern. Sie müssen eine jährliche Sonderabgabe entrichten.
Verwaltet wird der Fonds vom Umweltbundesamt. Die Kommunen können Mittel daraus beantragen, und zwar für die Abfallbeseitung im öffentlichen Raum und für "Sensibilisierungsmaßnahmen". Die Bundesregierung rechnet mit jährlich bis zu 450 Millionen Euro an Einzahlungen in den Fonds. Das Gesetz geht auf eine EU-Richtlinie zurück.
Zu den Produkten aus Einwegplastik zählen laut dem Gesetz unter anderem bestimmte Getränkebecher, Plastiktüten und Essensverpackungen, aber auch Tabakfilter und Luftballons. Ab 2026 werden zudem Hersteller von Feuerwerkskörpern zur Kasse gebeten.
