Wahlbehörde erklärt Erdogan zum Wahlsieger in der Türkei
Die türkische Wahlbehörde hat Amtsinhaber Recep Tayyip Erdogan zum Sieger der Stichwahl um das Präsidentenamt in der Türkei erklärt. Laut vorläufigem Ergebnis habe Erdogan die Wahl gewonnen, erklärte Wahlkommissionschef Ahmet Yener laut der staatlichen Nachrichtenagentur Anadolu am Sonntagabend. Damit steht der 69-Jährige vor einer weiteren fünfjährigen Amtszeit.
Zuvor hatte Erdogan in einer Ansprache vor jubelnden Anhängern in Istanbul bereits den Wahlsieg für sich reklamiert. Sein unterlegener Herausforderer, der Sozialdemokrat Kemal Kilicdaroglu, hatte sich "traurig" angesichts der Perspektiven für die Türkei nach Erdogans Sieg geäußert.
Der Urnengang am Sonntag war die erste Stichwahl um das Präsidentenamt in der Geschichte des Landes. Im ersten Wahlgang vor zwei Wochen hatte keiner der Kandidaten die erforderliche absolute Mehrheit erhalten. Umfragen vor der ersten Runde hatten den sozialdemokratischen Oppositionschef vorn gesehen. Anders als vorhergesagt landete Erdogan dann jedoch knapp fünf Prozentpunkte vor Kilicdaroglu und verfehlte die absolute Mehrheit nur knapp.
