Faeser kritisiert Ausschreitungen in Leipzig als "sinnlose Gewalt"
Bundesinnenministerin Nancy Faeser (SPD) hat nach den linksextremistischen Ausschreitungen in Leipzig ein hartes Durchgreifen angekündigt. "Die sinnlose Gewalt von linksextremistischen Chaoten und Randalierern ist durch nichts zu rechtfertigen", erklärte Faeser am Sonntag. "Wer Steine, Flaschen und Brandsätze auf Polizisten wirft, muss dafür konsequent zur Rechenschaft gezogen werden."
Die Sicherheitsbehörden von Bund und Ländern würden "die gewaltbereite linksextremistische Szene in den kommenden Tagen und Wochen weiterhin ganz genau im Fokus behalten und konsequent einschreiten, wenn es zu Straf- und Gewalttaten kommt", kündigte die Bundesinnenministerin an.
Bei den gewalttätigen Protesten nach dem Hafturteil gegen die Linksextremistin Lina E. in Leipzig waren nach Angaben der Polizei etwa 50 Beamtinnen und Beamte verletzt worden. Randalierer attackierten demnach Einsatzkräfte mit Wurfgeschossen und errichteten brennende Barrikaden, die mit Wasserwerfern gelöscht und geräumt wurden. Die Polizei kesselte nach eigenen Angaben am Samstagabend knapp über 1000 Menschen ein und hielt sie zwecks Personalienfeststellung teilweise über Stunden fest.
Faeser wünschte den verletzten Polizeibeamtinnen und Polizeibeamten "von Herzen, dass sie schnell wieder gesund werden". Die Ministerin dankte allen Einsatzkräften der Polizei, aber auch der Rettungsdienste "für den schwierigen und gefährlichen Einsatz".
