Sudan erklärt deutschen UN-Sondergesandten Perthes zur unerwünschten Person
Die Regierung des Sudan hat den deutschen UN-Sondergesandten Volker Perthes zur unerwünschten Person erklärt. "Die Regierung der Republik Sudan hat den Generalsekretär der Vereinten Nationen darüber informiert, dass sie Herrn Volker Perthes ab heute zur persona non grata erklärt hat", teilte das Außenministerium in Khartum am Donnerstag mit. Der Militärmachthaber Abdel Fattah al-Burhan hatte die Absetzung von Perthes gefordert und ihn für den Beginn der Kämpfe zwischen seiner Armee und der paramilitärischen RSF-Miliz Mitte April verantwortlich gemacht.
Perthes hielt sich am Donnerstag zu einer Reihe von diplomatischen Gesprächen in Addis Abeba in Äthiopien auf, wie die UNO zuvor auf Twitter mitgeteilt hatte.
In einem Schreiben an die UNO hatte Al-Burhan dem UN-Vertreter vorgeworfen, in seinen Berichten die explosive Lage in Khartum vor dem Beginn der Kämpfe "verschleiert" zu haben. Ohne diese "Lügen" hätte der Rebellenführer (Mohamed Hamdan) "Daglo nicht seine Militäraktionen begonnen", argumentierte der Militärmachthaber.
UN-Generalsekretär António Guterres hatte seinem Gesandten daraufhin "sein volles Vertrauen" ausgesprochen. Anfang Juni verlängerte der UN-Sicherheitsrat das Mandat für die UN-Mission im Sudan (Unitams), die von Perthes geleitet wird, allerdings nur um sechs Monate. Zuvor war die im Juni 2020 geschaffene Mission immer um zwölf Monate verlängert worden.
