Coca-Cola, McDonald's und Starbucks ziehen sich aus Russland zurück
Als Reaktion auf den russischen Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine ziehen sich auch der Getränke-Riese Coca-Cola, der Fastfood-Gigant McDonald's und die US-Kaffeehauskette Starbucks aus Russland zurück. Coca-Cola teilte am Dienstag in einer kurzen Erklärung mit, sein Geschäft in Russland vorübergehend auszusetzen. Nähere Angaben machte der Konzern zunächst nicht.
McDonald's erklärte, seine rund 850 Filialen in Russland würden bis auf Weiteres geschlossen. "Wir können das grundlose menschliche Leiden nicht ignorieren, das sich in der Ukraine abspielt", erklärte das Unternehmen. McDonald's habe daher entschieden, alle Filialen in Russland vorübergehend zu schließen und das Geschäft in Russland einzustellen. Die 62.000 Mitarbeiter in dem Land sollen aber weiter bezahlt werden.
Starbucks erklärte derweil, es stelle "alle Geschäftsaktivitäten in Russland" ein. Das umfasse die Lieferung "aller Starbucks-Produkte". Nach Angaben des Unternehmens gibt es in Russland 130 Starbucks-Cafés, die einem Lizenznehmer gehören und von ihm betrieben werden.
Wegen des russischen Angriffskriegs gegen die Ukraine ziehen sich immer mehr westliche Unternehmen vom russischen Markt zurück. Der Boykott reicht von Apple über BMW und Ikea bis hin zu Siemens und Visa. Westliche Staaten haben harte Sanktionen gegen Russland verhängt.
US-Präsident Joe Biden kündigte am Dienstag zudem ein Einfuhrverbot für Erdöl aus Russland an. Die Maßnahme betrifft nach Angaben des Weißen Hauses Rohöl und bestimmte Erdölprodukte, außerdem Flüssiggas und Kohle. Deutschland und die anderen EU-Staaten schrecken derzeit angesichts ihrer Abhängigkeit von russischem Erdgas und Erdöl vor einem solchen Schritt zurück.
