Amtsenthebungsverfahren gegen Perus Präsident Castillo erneut gescheitert
Die konservative Opposition in Peru ist am Montagabend (Ortszeit) mit ihrem Amtsenthebungsverfahren gegen den linken Präsidenten Pedro Castillo erneut gescheitert. Nach mehr als acht Stunden Debatte stimmten nur 55 Abgeordnete dafür - nötig wären 87 Stimmen gewesen. Es ist bereits das zweite Verfahren gegen Castillo, der erst seit acht Monaten im Amt ist, und das sechste Amtsenthebungsverfahren gegen einen Staatschef seit 2017.
Die Opposition, die 80 von 130 Sitzen im Parlament hat, wirft Castillo moralische Unfähigkeit sowie die Duldung von Korruption in seinem innersten Zirkel vor. Castillo wies die Anschuldigungen zu Beginn der Debatte zurück.
Peru befindet sich schon seit Jahren in einer politischen Krise. Im November 2020 hatte das Land drei Präsidenten innerhalb von fünf Tagen. Die meisten Regierungschefs der jüngsten Vergangenheit hielten sich weniger als ein Jahr im Amt.
