Estlands Regierungschefin zu Besuch in Berlin eingetroffen
Die Regierungschefin von Estland, Kaja Kallas, ist am Dienstag zu einem Besuch in Berlin eingetroffen. Die vehemente Unterstützerin der Ukraine im Kampf gegen Russland wurde am Vormittag von Bundespräsident Frank-Walter Steinmeier empfangen, im Anschluss fand ein Fototermin statt. Ab 11.00 Uhr nimmt Kallas zusammen mit Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) an einer Konferenz der Friedrich-August-von-Hayek-Stiftung in Berlin teil.
Im Anschluss daran wird Scholz ein bilaterales Gespräch mit Kallas führen. Im Mittelpunkt dürfte nach Angaben der Bundesregierung die Vorbereitung des EU-Gipfels diese Woche in Brüssel stehen. Am Nachmittag ab 15.30 Uhr wird Kallas mit dem Walther-Rathenau-Preis geehrt - für ihren Einsatz für die europäische Verständigung und für die Ukraine. Die Laudatio hält Bundesaußenministerin Annalena Baerbock (Grüne). Davor findet gegen 14.45 Uhr eine Pressekonferenz mit Kallas statt.
Kallas hatte Deutschland bereits im Februar einen Besuch abgestattet und dabei auch den Bundeskanzler getroffen. Bei dem Besuch ging es vor allem um die gemeinsame Unterstützung des Westens für die Ukraine im russischen Angriffskrieg. Estland warnt - wie die beiden anderen baltischen Staaten Litauen und Lettland - immer wieder vor den weitreichenden militärischen Zielen Russlands.
