Nach iranischem Angriff: Baerbock reist zu Gesprächen nach Israel
Bundesaußenministerin Annalena Baerbock (Grüne) besucht am Mittwoch als erste westliche Spitzenpolitikerin seit dem iranischen Großangriff Israel. Nach Angaben des Auswärtigen Amts sind Gespräche Baerbocks mit Regierungschef Benjamin Netanjahu, Außenminister Israel Katz sowie dem Oppositionsführer und Mitglied des Kriegskabinetts, Benny Gantz, geplant. Baerbock startete ihre Reise nach Israel am Dienstagnachmittag in Berlin.
Ziel sei es unter anderem, nach dem iranischen Angriff mit mehr als 300 Drohnen sowie Raketen und Marschflugkörpern auf Israel "eine weitere Eskalation mit Zug um Zug mehr Gewalt" zu verhindern, sagte Baerbock. Es ist bereits die siebte Reise Baerbocks nach Israel seit dem Angriff der islamistischen Palästinenserorganisation Hamas auf das Land am 7. Oktober und dem darauf folgenden israelischen Militäreinsatz im Gazastreifen. Am Mittwochabend will Baerbock auf der italienischen Insel Capri an einem Treffen der Außenminister der G7-Staaten teilnehmen.
