Macron fordert Ausweitung von Iran-Sanktionen
Frankreichs Präsident Emmanuel Macron hat sich für eine Ausweitung der bisherigen Sanktionen gegen den Iran ausgesprochen. "Wir müssen sie anpassen, sie ausweiten", sagte Macron am Mittwoch vor einem Gipfeltreffen der EU-Staats- und Regierungschefs in Brüssel. Die EU müsse all jene sanktionieren, die an der Herstellung von Raketen und Drohnen beteiligt sind, die für Angriffe sowohl auf die Ukraine als auch auf Israel verwendet werden.
EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen hatte zuvor ebenfalls vor Drohnen aus dem Iran gewarnt, die auch Russland einsetze. "Iranische Drohnen fliegen täglich über ukrainische Städte", erklärte sie. Der Iran beliefere zudem Milizen wie die Huthis im Jemen. Der EU-Gipfel sollte sich am Mittwoch vor allem mit der Lage in Nahost nach dem iranischen Angriff auf Israel in der Nacht zum Sonntag befassen.
Auch Bundesaußenministerin Annalena Baerbock (Grüne) hatte schärfere Sanktionen gegen den Iran gefordert. Der Angriff Teherans werde "nicht ohne weitere Konsequenzen bleiben", sagte Baerbock in Tel Aviv. Die EU habe den Iran bereits mit "massiven Sanktionen" belegt. "Und wir arbeiten weiter hieran", sagte sie. Eine Ausweitung der Sanktionen "ist unsere Pflicht", betonte Macron.
Der Iran hatte in der Nacht zum Sonntag erstmals von seinem Staatsgebiet aus Israel direkt angegriffen. Nach israelischen Angaben wurden fast alle der mehr als 300 vom Iran abgefeuerten Drohnen und Raketen abgewehrt, unter Mithilfe unter anderem der USA, Großbritanniens, Frankreichs und Jordaniens.
