Luftabwehr: Scholz fordert von EU-Partnern mehr Waffenlieferungen für die Ukraine
Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) hat von den EU-Partnern die Lieferung weiterer Waffensysteme für die Ukraine gefordert. Deutschland habe bereits Luftverteidigungssysteme vom Typ Patriot geliefert und ein weiteres zugesagt, sagte Scholz am Mittwochabend vor einem Gipfeltreffen mit EU-Kollegen in Brüssel. "Wir wollen auch andere ermutigen, dasselbe zu tun", fügte er hinzu.
"Der russische Angriffskrieg wird mit großer Brutalität unverändert vorangetragen, und wir wissen, dass wir mehr tun müssen, als wir bisher machen, um die Ukraine zu unterstützen", führte der Kanzler aus. Deshalb müssten nun alle "in ihre Bestände gucken, ob sie weitere Luftverteidigungssysteme, insbesondere Patriots, entbehren können".
Die Bundesregierung bemüht sich angesichts der offenkundigen Schwäche der ukrainischen Luftabwehr um kurzfristige Hilfe. Bundesaußenministerin Annalena Baerbock (Grüne) und Verteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius (SPD) hatten sich zuvor bereits mit einem "dringenden Appell" an Partnerländer gewandt. Es gehe "um jede einzelne Rakete", sagte ein Sprecher des Bundesverteidigungsministeriums.
