Vierter Wahlgang bei Präsidentenwahl in Italien bringt noch immer kein Ergebnis
Auch die vierte Runde bei der Wahl eines neuen Staatspräsidenten in Italien ist ohne Ergebnis verlaufen. Die Mitte-rechts-Fraktion enthielt sich am Donnerstag bei der Stimmabgabe, die Wahlleute der Mitte-Links-Parteien gaben leere Stimmzettel ab. Viele Italiener hatten am vierten Wahltag auf einen Durchbruch gehofft, da für einen Sieg nicht mehr eine Zwei-Drittel-Mehrheit, sondern nur noch eine absolute Mehrheit nötig war. Der nächste Wahlgang findet am Freitag statt.
Das Amt des Staatschefs in Italien ist ein weitgehend repräsentatives. Wegen der potenziellen Wahl des amtierenden Ministerpräsidenten Mario Draghi steht dieses Mal jedoch viel auf dem Spiel: Es drohen Neuwahlen und der Bruch der fragilen Koalition, die Draghi zum Regierungschef gemacht hatte.
Auf der anderen Seite gilt der 74-Jährige als gut geeignet, um als Staatschef für Stabilität und gute Beziehungen zur EU zu sorgen - vor allem, wenn die radikale Rechte die nächste Parlamentswahl gewinnen sollte.
Der Chef der rechtsradikalen Lega, Matteo Salvini, betonte am Donnerstag erneut, dass Draghi in seiner aktuellen Position "wertvoll" sei und nicht in den Quirinalspalast wechseln dürfe. Auf einen alternativen Kandidaten konnten sich Italiens Parteien bislang jedoch nicht einigen.
In der italienischen Presse zirkulieren seit Wochen mehrere Namen potenzieller Kandidaten, darunter der ehemalige Präsident des Abgeordnetenhauses, Pier Ferdinando Casini, und die derzeitige Senatspräsidentin Elisabetta Casellati. Sie wäre die erste Frau im Amt.
