US Army probes helicopter flyby of Kid Rock's house
The US Army is investigating an incident in which two Apache attack helicopters flew near the Tennessee home of musician Kid Rock, an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump, a US military official said Tuesday.
Kid Rock -- whose real name is Robert Ritchie -- posted a video on X over the weekend showing a helicopter hovering near his mountaintop home's swimming pool as he clapped and saluted.
"God Bless America and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to defend her," he wrote in text accompanying the video, while a second clip showed there were two of the aircraft in the area.
"This is under investigation," the military official told AFP on condition of anonymity, saying the Army is "looking into the mission, task, purpose, where it's supposed to go, and looking for compliance."
The official said the helicopters were "potentially" not following their briefed flight path, and that the crew members involved have been suspended from flight activities.
Kid Rock performed at the 2024 Republican National Convention as well as the "All-American Halftime Show" that was billed as an alternative to the Super Bowl performance by Puerto Rican headliner Bad Bunny.
