Gruppe von 15 EU-Ländern fordert Gaspreisdeckel für Importe
Mehr als die Hälfte der EU-Staaten hat eine Deckelung der Importpreise für Erdgas gefordert. Eine solche Preisobergrenze habe "Priorität", heißt es in einem Brief von 15 der 27 Mitgliedstaaten an die EU-Kommission, welcher der Nachrichtenagentur AFP am Mittwoch vorlag. Zu den Unterzeichnern gehören Frankreich, Spanien und Italien. Deutschland trägt den Vorstoß nicht mit.
Die 15 Länder riefen die EU-Kommission in dem Brief auf, bis zum Sondertreffen der Energieminister am Freitag einen Vorschlag für den Preisdeckel zu machen. EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen hatte vor drei Wochen einen "Preisdeckel für russisches Gas" ins Gespräch gebracht. Diese Idee scheiterte aber am Widerstand osteuropäischer Staaten, die von russischen Energielieferungen abhängig sind.
In dem Brief heißt es nun: "Die Obergrenze sollte für alle Erdgas-Großhandelstransaktionen gelten und nicht nur für Einfuhren aus bestimmten Hoheitsgebieten" wie Russland. Mit einem solchen Rahmen könne die EU zudem die Inflation sowie Zusatzgewinne in dem Sektor begrenzen.
Mit Blick auf eine allgemeine Preisobergrenze hatte sich die EU-Kommission zuvor bereits skeptisch geäußert. Sie warnte, die USA und andere würden ihr in Europa benötigtes Flüssiggas (LNG) dann in Asien verkaufen. Ähnlich sieht es dem Vernehmen nach die Bundesregierung.
Auch in Deutschland wird derzeit über einen Gaspreisdeckel diskutiert. Dieser soll allerdings direkt die Preise für die Verbraucher begrenzen.
