Selenskyj: Ukraine wird zügige Aufnahme in Nato beantragen
Als Reaktion auf die Unterzeichnung von Abkommen in Moskau zur Annexion von vier ukrainischen Regionen hat der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj einen Antrag zur zügigen Aufnahme seines Landes in die Nato angekündigt. "Wir unternehmen einen entschlossenen Schritt, indem wir die Bewerbung der Ukraine um beschleunigten Beitritt zur Nato unterzeichnen", sagte Selenskyj am Freitag in einem Video, das nur wenige Minuten nach der Unterzeichnungszeremonie im Kreml verbreitet wurde.
Der ukrainische Staatschef unterstrich darin, dass sein Land bereits seine "Vereinbarkeit mit den Standards" der westlichen Militärallianz unter Beweis gestellt habe. Zugleich erteilte Selenskyj dem vom russischen Präsidenten Wladimir Putin kurz zuvor formulierten Appell zu Verhandlungen über Beendigung des Ukraine-Kriegs eine Absage.
Die Ukraine werde keine Verhandlungen mit Russland führen, solange Putin an der Macht sei, sagte der ukrainische Staatschef. Die Ukraine werde dann mit Russland verhandeln, wenn es dort einen "neuen Präsidenten" gebe.
Putin hatte in einer Ansprache zur Annexion der vier ukrainischen Regionen Kiew zur umgehenden Einstellung aller Kampfhandlungen aufgefordert. Der russische Präsident rief die ukrainische Regierung auf, "an den Verhandlungstisch zurückzukehren".
