Russland blockiert Sicherheitsrats-Resolution zu Ukraine-Annexionen
Der UN-Sicherheitsrat hat sich am Freitag mit der Annexion von vier ukrainischen Regionen durch Russland befasst. Russland blockierte dabei mit einem Veto eine Resolution, mit der die vorausgegangenen "illegalen" Referenden in den ukrainischen Gebieten verurteilt werden sollten. Zehn der 15 Sicherheitsratsmitglieder stimmten für den von den USA und Albanien vorgelegten Text. Vier Staaten - China, Indien, Brasilien und Gabun - enthielten sich.
Die Resolution war im Sicherheitsrat von Anfang an zum Scheitern verurteilt gewesen. Als eines von fünf ständigen Mitgliedern des mächtigsten Gremiums der Vereinten Nationen hat Russland ein Veto-Recht und kann damit jede Resolution blockieren. Die Resolution geht jetzt in die UN-Vollversammlung, in der alle UN-Mitgliedstaaten vertreten sind und in der es kein Veto-Recht gibt.
Russlands Staatschef Wladimir Putin hatte am Freitag Abkommen zur Annexion der von russischen oder pro-russischen Truppen ganz oder teilweise kontrollierten Regionen Luhansk, Donezk, Cherson und Saporischschja unterzeichnet. Die dortigen Bewohner "werden für immer unsere Bürger", sagte Putin bei einer Zeremonie im Kreml. "Die Menschen haben für unsere gemeinsame Zukunft gestimmt."
Die Annexion wurde vom Westen geschlossen verurteilt. Die USA kündigten neue Sanktionen gegen Russland an.
